Mexicans recognize Pope Francis’ leadership, according to survey by Heraldo Media Group
A survey by QM Estudios de Opinión, in partnership with Heraldo Media Group, highlights the approval of his pontificate and his possible successors

Last Easter Sunday, he made his final public appearance; a day later (April 21), the bells of St. Peter’s Basilica rang out to announce the death of Pope Francis, the 266th, who set his mark of austerity, inclusion, and greater openness to women within the Catholic Church.

According to a survey by QM Estudios de Opinión, in partnership with Heraldo Media Group, on whether Mexicans consider the Pope to have done a good job as leader of the Church, 89% of respondents said yes and 11% said no, in a random sample of 800 people.
To the question: Did you know that Francis was Argentine and the first American Pope in the history of the Catholic Church? 69% answered yes and 31% no, in the survey with a margin of error of +/- 3.5%.
The death of Pope Francis has triggered preparations to search for his successor through a conclave, which will be held in the Sistine Chapel starting tomorrow, with the participation of 133 of the 135 possible papal cardinals.

Respondents were asked about some of the possible successors to become the next Pope. Tell me, do you know or have heard of...? Cardinal Muller of Germany (16%); Cardinal Pizzaballa of Italy (15%); Cardinal Sarah of Guinea (14%); Cardinal Tagle of the Philippines (13%); Cardinal Zuppi of Italy (10%); Don’t know or did not answer (32%).
