In Mexico City, in an operation led by the Federal Attorney General’s Office (FGR), the Ministry of the Navy (Semar), the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the National Guard (GN) and the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), Leobardo García Corrales, alias “Leo”, was arrested. He is wanted by the DEA in the United States for crimes against health, involvement in organized crime, and violation of the federal firearms and explosives law.

A reward of up to US$4 million was offered for information leading to Garcia Corrales’ arrest, as he is linked to a conspiracy to import fentanyl into the United States.

Garcia Corrales is known to have been a close associate of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, “El Chapo Guzmán” and Ismael Zambada García, “El Mayo”, and was responsible for the production and distribution of methamphetamine and fentanyl for the Sinaloa Cartel.
