The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports the results of “Operation Northern Border” as of April 2, 2025

Since the start of the operation on February 5, a total of 2,048 individuals have been arrested, and authorities have seized 1,891 firearms, 302,305 rounds of various calibers, 9,370 magazines, 24,422.54 kilograms of drugs—including 129.24 kg of fentanyl—1,715 vehicles, and 249 properties.

All actions have been carried out strictly with the rule of law and with full respect for human rights. The following highlights are among the arrests and seizures:

Baja California

Two individuals were arrested, one of them a U.S. citizen. Authorities seized 125 rounds, 55 doses of methamphetamine, 32 doses of marijuana, and one vehicle.

In coordinated actions, the Security Cabinet carried out arrests, property searches, and seizures of firearms and various types of drugs in Baja California, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Morelos, Nuevo León, Puebla, Quintana Roo, Sinaloa, Sonora, Tabasco, and Veracruz

In Playas de Rosarito, four people were arrested, and 55 kilograms of cocaine, 8 kilograms of methamphetamine, and one vehicle were seized.

Nuevo León

In Guadalupe, authorities seized five firearms, four magazines, 95 rounds, 10 kilograms of marijuana, a tactical vest, one vehicle, and one property.

Sinaloa

In Salvador Alvarado, two long firearms, eight magazines, 220 rounds, two grenades, four ballistic vests, one tactical helmet, 30 tire-spike devices, and one vehicle were seized.

Thirteen sites used for storing materials to produce methamphetamine were located and dismantled. Authorities seized 6,540 liters and 125 kilograms of substances used to manufacture the drug, along with two organic synthesis reactors. The economic blow to criminal organizations is estimated at 150 million pesos.

Sonora

Five individuals were arrested. Authorities seized 57 doses of marijuana, 30 doses of methamphetamine, four slot machines, and one property.

In Ciudad Obregón, one man was arrested, two individuals who were being held captive were freed, and six rounds of ammunition, one firearm, and one magazine were seized.

Tamaulipas

In Reynosa, 114 rounds, one firearm, and four vehicles—two of them with improvised armor—were seized.
