The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico shares key actions taken on Wednesday, April 2, 2025

In coordinated operations, Mexico’s Security Cabinet reported arrests, property searches, and the seizure of firearms and various drugs in the following states: Baja California, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, State of Mexico, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nayarit, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosí, Sinaloa, Sonora, and Tamaulipas

  • In Baja California, Army and State Police forces seized 55 kg of cocaine and 8 kg of methamphetamine, valued at approximately 15.8 million pesos.
  • In Nuevo León, officers from the Army, National Guard, Federal Prosecutor’s Office (FGR), and State Police seized one long gun, four handguns, magazines, ammunition, 10 kg of marijuana, tactical gear, and one vehicle.
  • In Sinaloa, Army personnel seized 6,540 liters and 125 kg of substances used to produce methamphetamine, as well as two organic synthesis reactors. The value of the confiscated materials is estimated to be 150 million pesos.
  • As part of the strategy to combat fuel theft, the Army identified three illegal pipeline taps in Hidalgo.

These actions form part of Mexico’s National Security Strategy, which is built on four pillars: addressing root causes, strengthening the National Guard, enhancing intelligence and investigation, and coordinating efforts with state governments.

BAJA CALIFORNIA

  • In Mexicali, the Army and State Police seized two handguns, magazines, ammunition, various doses of heroin, and a motorcycle. The estimated drug value is 369,845 pesos.
  • In Mexicali and Playas de Rosarito, National Guard and Customs officials apprehended two men in a vehicle and confiscated ammunition along with several doses of drugs.
  • In Playas de Rosarito, the Army and State Police arrested two individuals in a vehicle with 3 kg of cocaine—estimated value: 735,768 pesos.
  • In a separate incident in Playas de Rosarito, four individuals were arrested with 55 kg of cocaine and 8 kg of methamphetamine. Estimated value: 15.8 million pesos.
  • In Tijuana’s Del Bosque neighborhood, the Navy, the State Attorney’s Office, the Army, and the National Guard conducted raids on eight properties, arresting a suspected member of a criminal group and seizing one handgun, two magazines, 35 rounds, and a computer.

MEXICO CITY

  • In Iztacalco, officers from the City Security Secretariat (SSC), Navy, and City Attorney General’s Office (FGJ) conducted a raid on a property and arrested two individuals. They seized cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine.
  • In Iztapalapa and Gustavo A. Madero, the Army, SSC, FGJ, and National Guard raided a property, arrested five individuals, and confiscated drugs.

STATE OF MEXICO

  • In Chiconcuac and Ixtapaluca, the National Guard, State Prosecutor’s Office, and State and Municipal Police raided two properties, arrested seven individuals, and seized drugs along with two motorcycles.

GUANAJUATO

  • In León, the Army, National Guard, Security Ministry, Prosecutor’s Office, and State Police arrested a man believed to be the leader of a violent criminal cell accused of homicide.
  • In Valle de Santiago, León, Irapuato, and Celaya, authorities seized a long gun, ammunition, drugs, two vehicles, and one motorcycle during a raid.

MICHOACÁN

  • In Apatzingán, Army and State Police seized six long guns, magazines, ammunition, 116 improvised explosive devices, and one motorcycle; three criminal camps were destroyed.
  • In Parácuaro, a long firearm, magazines, ammunition, and tactical gear were seized.

NUEVO LEÓN

  • In Guadalupe, the Army, National Guard, FGR, and State Police raided a property, seizing one long gun, four handguns, magazines, ammunition, 10 kg of marijuana, tactical gear, and one vehicle.

OAXACA

  • In Loma Bonita and San Juan Bautista, the Navy and State Prosecutor’s Office raided three homes, resulting in the arrest of three individuals. Officers seized cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, a handgun, ten cartridges, a radio, three phones, and two vehicles.

QUINTANA ROO

  • In Benito Juárez, the Army, National Guard, and State Prosecutor’s Office raided a home, seizing a long gun, two handguns, a fragmentation grenade, meth, and tactical gear.
  • In a second operation in Benito Juárez, the Navy, Army, National Guard, and State Prosecutor’s Office raided two homes, arrested five individuals, and seized one long gun, six handguns, one magazine, one grenade, drugs, and a tactical vest.
  • In Playa del Carmen, the Army, National Guard, Navy, and Municipal Police arrested five individuals, seizing four handguns, magazines, ammunition, drugs, and a vehicle.

SAN LUIS POTOSÍ

  • In Salinas Hidalgo, the Army and State Police seized a long gun, a handgun, magazines, ammunition, one vehicle, and three motorcycles.

SINALOA

  • In Culiacán, state police rescued a kidnapping victim and apprehended four suspects.
  • In Salvador Alvarado, Army personnel seized a pickup truck, two grenades, two long guns, magazines, tire spike devices, and tactical gear.

SONORA

  • In Cajeme and Hermosillo, the Army, National Guard, and State Prosecutor’s Office raided two properties, arrested five individuals, and seized drugs.

TAMAULIPAS

  • In Reynosa, the Army and National Guard seized one long gun, ammunition, and four vehicles, two of which were modified with homemade armor.

ANTI-DRUG PRODUCTION AND TRAFFICKING OPERATIONS

In the states of Chihuahua, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, Army and Air Force personnel located and destroyed 108 opium poppy fields covering 15 hectares and 20 marijuana fields spanning 1 hectare.

In Culiacán and Cosalá, Sinaloa, the Army seized 6,540 liters and 125 kg of meth precursors, along with two organic synthesis reactors. The estimated value is 150 million pesos.

In San Rafael, Nayarit, Navy personnel located and destroyed eight poppy fields covering over 43,850 square meters, containing approximately 877,000 plants, all of which were destroyed on-site.

FUEL THEFT STRATEGY

As part of Mexico’s fuel theft strategy, the Army found three illegal pipeline taps in Hidalgo.

From March 27 to April 2, the Navy and PEMEX located and shut down 13 illegal taps connected to the Salina Cruz–Minatitlán and Tuxpan–Azcapotzalco pipelines in Oaxaca and Puebla.

ILLEGAL FISHING AND BANNED NETS

From March 27 to April 2, the Navy and CONAPESCA seized 1,776 kg of marine products along with 12 prohibited fishing nets, amounting to a total of 3,402 meters.

This year, authorities have seized 196,833 kg of marine products and 334 prohibited nets measuring a total of 88,165 meters.
