The Security Cabinet of the Government of Mexico reports on key actions carried out on Monday, April 14, 2025

In coordinated operations by the Security Cabinet, arrests, searches, and the seizure of firearms and various types of drugs were carried out in Baja California, Chihuahua, Mexico City, Durango, Guerrero, Guanajuato, Michoacán, Nuevo León, Oaxaca, Puebla, Sinaloa, Sonora, and Tabasco

●⁠ ⁠In Baja California, personnel from the Mexican Army and municipal police officers stopped a vehicle heading to the United States and arrested a man transporting nine kilograms of cocaine. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is 2.2 million pesos.

●⁠ ⁠In Chihuahua, Mexican Army troops arrested an individual and seized three long guns, one handgun, magazines, ammunition, 10 kilograms of cocaine, 12 kilograms of marijuana, six tactical vests, and three vehicles. Estimated value: 2.4 million pesos.

●⁠ ⁠In Sinaloa, Mexican Army forces seized one long gun, magazines, 10 kilos of opium gum, 20 kilos of marijuana, 110 kilos of marijuana seeds, and tactical gear. The estimated value is 481,502 pesos.

●⁠ ⁠In Jalisco, personnel from the Mexican Army, National Guard, and PEMEX’s Physical Security division located six sealed clandestine taps, seized three tractor-trailers, and recovered 54,000 liters of stolen fuel.

These actions form part of the National Security Strategy, which relies on four pillars: addressing root causes, consolidating the National Guard, strengthening intelligence and investigative capabilities, and enhancing coordination with state governments.

BAJA CALIFORNIA

In Tecate, personnel from the Mexican Army and Municipal Police officers detained a man at the “Lázaro Cárdenas” border bridge while he was traveling in a pickup truck heading for the U.S. Nine kilos of cocaine were discovered concealed in the engine’s air filter compartment.

Estimated value: 2.2 million pesos.

CHIHUAHUA

In Casas Grandes, the Mexican Army arrested one individual and seized three long guns, a handgun, magazines, ammunition, 10 kilos of cocaine, 12 kilos of marijuana, six tactical vests, and three vehicles.

Estimated value: 2.4 million pesos.

MEXICO CITY

In the borough of Iztapalapa, personnel from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC), the Mexican Army, the National Guard (GN), the Navy (Semar), and the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) arrested three individuals, including Manuel “N,” who is the financial and logistics coordinator of a violent criminal cell involved in drug trafficking, extortion, and homicides. Various doses of drugs and two vehicles were seized.

STATE OF MEXICO

In Zinacantepec, members of the Mexican Army, National Guard, State Attorney General’s Office, and State Security Secretariat executed five investigative warrants. Eight individuals were arrested, and they were found in possession of ammunition, various drug doses, cash, and two digital scales.

GUERRERO

In Coyuca de Catalán, the Mexican Army confiscated three long guns and 20 kilograms of opium gum—equivalent to around 20,000 doses.

JALISCO

In Zapopan, state prosecutors arrested two men and confiscated a shotgun, a handgun, and a motorcycle.

MICHOACÁN

In Buenavista, personnel from the Mexican Army seized four long guns, magazines, ammunition, and three tactical vests.

NUEVO LEÓN

In Los Herrera, the Mexican Army and State Police confiscated two makeshift armored vehicles.

PUEBLA

In Cuautlancingo and Puebla, personnel from the Army, GN, State Prosecutor’s Office, and State Police executed two investigative warrants, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals.

In Cuautlancingo and Ocoyucan, based on intelligence work, agents from the Navy and the State Prosecutor’s Office carried out the following operations:

In Cuautlancingo, in Sanctórum, five individuals connected to a criminal organization were arrested. Authorities confiscated one long gun, 15 cartridges, a magazine, doses of cocaine and methamphetamine, one kilogram of marijuana, cell phones, and a vehicle.

In Ocoyucan, within the Lomas de Angelópolis neighborhood, authorities arrested four individuals, seizing two handguns and three vehicles.

SINALOA

In Culiacán, the Mexican Army seized four long guns, a grenade launcher attachment, magazines, 1,505 cartridges, four tactical vests, two ballistic plates, one improvised explosive device, caltrops, and three vehicles.

In Mazatlán, authorities seized one long gun, magazines, 10 kilos of opium gum, 20 kilos of marijuana, 110 kilos of marijuana seeds, and tactical gear.

Estimated drug value: 481,502 pesos.

SONORA

In San Luis Río Colorado, GN and state police seized three long guns, magazines, cartridges, three tactical vests, six ballistic plates, and a vehicle.

In Hermosillo, the Mexican Army and the State Attorney General’s Office executed an investigative warrant, arresting two individuals and seizing two handguns, a magazine, various drug doses, a digital scale, and a property.

TABASCO

In Tenosique, the National Guard confiscated five long guns, magazines, five tactical vests, and two vehicles.

ANTI-DRUG PRODUCTION AND TRAFFICKING EFFORTS

In Chihuahua, Sinaloa, Durango, Guerrero, and Oaxaca, the Mexican Army destroyed 167 poppy plantations spanning 15 hectares and 62 marijuana plantations across five hectares.

In Culiacán and Cosalá, Sinaloa, the Army dismantled five facilities used for methamphetamine production, seizing 5,190 liters and 650 kilograms of chemicals required to manufacture synthetic drugs.

The financial impact on criminal organizations is estimated to be 129 million pesos.

STRATEGY TO COMBAT FUEL THEFT

As part of the national strategy to combat fuel theft, the Mexican Army discovered nine clandestine taps—six in Jalisco, two in Hidalgo, and one in Querétaro.

In Jalisco, Army, GN, and PEMEX Physical Security personnel:

— Located six sealed clandestine taps

— Seized three tractor-trailers

— Recovered 54,000 liters of fuel

In Salamanca, Guanajuato, based on intelligence efforts, the Army, National Guard, Attorney General’s Office, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, and PEMEX conducted two investigative actions at separate locations. They arrested 14 individuals and seized:

— One handgun, 17 cartridges

— 60,000 liters of fuel oil

— One trailer, four semi-trailers, four tractor-trailers

— Two storage containers, 10 vehicles, six motorcycles

— 12 cell phones, three fuel transfer pumps

— 412,500 pesos in cash

— Two properties

In Salamanca, authorities also seized items from two additional properties:

— Four tractor-trailers, one tanker truck

— Three trailers, one dry box trailer, one dolly

— One motorcycle, one vehicle, five storage containers

— One ATV, eight cell phones

— Three samples of black viscous substance

— Two properties
