- The opposition’s attack against the Semar following the tragedy is “petty”, the President charged.

“I particularly would like to thank New York City Mayor Eric Adams; I did so in my social networks. From the very first minutes after the accident the crew received total support. They were taken to the hospitals. These two young people, a man and a woman, died in the hospital, and all the injured received medical attention. There are two young people who are still receiving medical attention there and the others have already returned to Mexico,“ the President explained during her morning press conference.
Sheinbaum reported that the Ministry of the Navy is already conducting the corresponding investigations to determine the causes of the accident, parallel to the investigation being carried out by the National Transportation Agency with the support of the U.S. Coast Guard. The damages caused to the bridge will be paid through insurance.
Finally, the President characterized the opposition’s stance as “petty”, as it tried to take political advantage of the tragedy, contrary to the solidarity shown by Mexicans living in the United States who accompanied the sailors prior to their return to Mexico.
“It is petty, there is no other adjective to describe it; it is mean-spirited. Especially when two young people died. This was instead of there being solidarity, support, recognition, because the Mexican Navy is a glorious institution of the Mexican State,” she said.
